Very Hairy Caterpillars
For part of our planting unit, we made these cute lil' guys. I know that I have seen them on other sites as well, but wanted to share because they are so ADORABLE and the 'little fins' love them! When I took the picture not all of them were growing, but about a week later they all have "hair"! To make these, we used knee-high nylons and a mixture of dirt and grass seed. We put a half cup of the dirt mixture in, tied the nylon, added another half cup of dirt, tied again, added one more half cup, and tied it a last time. I cut off the extra after the last knot. My parent volunteer came in to help with these, and even she loved them.
I have seen these as grass heads but never caterpillars...so cute!
